EMP is proud to partner with ArenaNIL in helping universities and colleges solve their NIL questions and needs. The following is from their message to colleges and universities on how they can be of help to you this year.
Would you be interested in a 30-minute Zoom where ArenaNIL can share some of their insights and how they can help your program navigate these waters? Their proprietary national research program has uncovered many emerging trends:
• Of the top 10 schools in NIL deals, 80% of them have launched branded programs with a centralized website to demonstrate to recruits and their families that they are serious about supporting them in realizing their NIL dreams. No, it’s not enough to just have INFLNCR or Opendorse; you have to have your own, branded program and centralized website, so when a recruit Googles you, the top hits show your NIL prowess AND all your other recruiting tools in one spot. • 90% of NIL deals are with local businesses in the greater metro area of the school’s main campus. Successful schools that understand this have local business outreach plans. Your jurisdiction may prohibit directly coordinating deals, but nothing prevents you from having a business outreach and engagement program. • An emerging trend is schools finding ways to facilitate the use of their brands and marks by their student-athletes in NIL deals. ArenaNIL has examples from their research of schools creatively finding ways to do this within existing contractual restrictions. And some are renegotiating existing deals because sponsors know this flexibility is essential to success in the new environment. It’s been one year since the NCAA policy went into effect on July 1, 2021. Now is the time to make sure you have a comprehensive NIL strategy based on the latest national research. It is essential to landing top recruits and keeping them out of the transfer portal.
